BRIDPORT’S Paul and Hellen Smythe have gone from strength to strength since starting their earthmoving business P & H Smythe Excavations 15 years ago, and they’ve now decided to branch out into landscaping supplies.

In response to increasing requests for products, they have started Bridport Landscape Products to complement their earthmoving business and fulfil the local demand. “People were asking for products all the time and there was nowhere you could get certain products locally, people had to go to town,” Hellen said. “What we want to do is make it easy for people, so they can come out here, look and choose what they like, and we can do delivery.”

Bridport Landscape Supplies stocks a wide range of products from across the state, including Pine bark, Dorset Gold soil conditioner, eucalyptus mulch, post peelings, topsoil, potting mix, veggie bed mix, decomposed granite, decorative rocks, dune sand, concrete gravel, landscaping rocks, crusher dust, drainage rock and aggregate, base gravels and firewood. “You can buy it in bags if you just want a bit for your garden, or you can buy it in bulk,” Paul said. “We have the trailer there for hire if they haven’t got a trailer, and we also offer delivery.”

Paul said they are lucky to have loyal staff making this new venture possible, including long-time employee Marty Knight, Daniel Williams, Paula Donaldson, and Jason Sarich who will oversee the day to day operation of the landscaping business.
